Vermaland CEO Wins Arizona Real Estate 2013 “Philanthropist of the Year” Award

Kuldip Verma, CEO, of Vermaland won the prestigious award on May 9th. Verma contributed $1.2M to the Verma Charitable Foundation in 2013 and has made several other charitable donations over the years.

A panel of industry experts honors the state’s best and brightest companies, bankers, home builders, as well as individuals who give back to the community. Also recognized are those in the business whose careers have left an indelible mark on the community and on the industry.

This year Kuldip Verma was honored with an AREA award for Philanthropist of the Year. In 2013, Kuldip donated S1.2M to the Verma Charitable Foundation. This foundation was founded to help underprivileged students afford education in order to have a brighter future. The foundation will also build a religious retreat center, in which the focus will be yoga and meditation for various members of the community.

Additionally, Kuldip Verma, is very actively involved in the Hindu Temple of Arizona. He has donated $50,000 to this temple to date. Kuldip volunteers at the temple on a regular basis, helping out with any issues the temple may encounter. Kuldip and his wife are among the largest donors for the temple and have been instrumental in getting the temple to where it is today.

Verma has not only proved himself to be a successful businessman, but also an honorable one through his generosity and social responsibility. Mr. Verma said he learned the philanthropic efforts from his father, who has an active charitable foundation in India, in his name.

An additional notable award–the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award–was presented to Ira A Fulton. Fulton is the founder of Tempe-based Fulton Homes, but his biggest impact on the world may have come through his philanthropy. BusinessWeek magazine has listed Fulton among its 50 Most Generous Philanthropists. According to BusinessWeek, Fulton and his wife have given away a staggering $265 million, approximately 60 percent of their net worth.
